Definitely edgy and powerful, it takes all the air you can muster through it and gives you back a wall of sound. This particular Super 20 tenor plays with a broad, punchy sound, and is a bit brighter on the color spectrum. The sax will get a thorough cleaning and adjustment from our repair shop before shipping, where we will replace all key material, any pads that aren't up to our standards, and optimize the key heights and spring tensions up and down the sax. The current set of pads are fitted with metal waffle style resonators, and are very good shape. Physically, the horn shows a couple tiny pencil-point pings in body here and there, but no serious past trauma or repair, and that includes no resolders. The neck is original to the horn, with matching serial number, and has the underslung octave key and double socket receiver. This vintage of Super 20 features nickel plated key touches, sunburst engraving on the low B/Bb key cups, and a sterling silver neck. ![]() This tenor is in great shape physically, and is a monster player to boot. This Cleveland vintage horn dates to 1956, in the so-called “third series” of Super 20 horns. ![]() ![]() Excellent original lacquer King Super 20 tenor sax, serial number 356440.
